Alpha Chi Omega is committed to furthering funding and opportunities for domestic violence awareness (DVA) in the community of Kalamazoo, at Western Michigan University, and beyond. Our chapter and organization also work at a national level to increase awareness of domestic violence through educational programs, fundraising, and creating and endorsing programs to assist survivors.
The Gamma Xi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega celebrates Healthy Relationships for a week in February every year by raising money towards DVA, in addition to hosting several other philanthropic events throughout the school year! |
Alpha Chi Omega decided to take a stand against domestic violence in 1992 by educating on the reality of this pressing issue in today's society.
The purpose of philanthropy is to not only educate the sisters of our chapter but also our university's campus about the truth regarding domestic. We use this passion to fuel our sisterhood. We hope to inspire change in our community by raising awareness and funds to financially support domestic violence survivors. DVAM is recognized nationally during the month of October. To fight against unhealthy relationships and build healthy relationships, Alpha Chi Omega headquarters provides a number of opportunities for members to highlight their service to individuals and families impacted by domestic violence, to educate themselves and others about healthy relationships, and to raise awareness of the cause. During the month of October, we host an annual softball tournament to raise money and awareness DVA and the Alpha Chi Omega foundation. |
April is national Sexual Assault Awareness Month. To recognize this month, Alpha Chi Omega provides opportunities and digital resources for education and awareness initiatives focused on sexual assault prevention in partnership with RAINN (Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network). During this month, members also support the victims and survivors of sexual assault by wearing denim and hosting events on campus with educational information to promote awareness.
