Where is your sisterhood located?
The home and central location of our Gamma Xi chapter is located at 1345 Fraternity Village Drive, Kalamazoo, MI, 49006. Fraternity Village Drive is a common location for Greek life organizations to reside and we are right in the heart of this loving community.
How much does membership cost? What are dues? What do they go towards? Why is it worth it?
The membership of Alpha Chi Omega is financed through what we refer to as ' membership dues' and varies slightly each year. Dues are essentially operating costs of fraternal life that include costs supporting our philanthropy, membership activities, the maintenance of our home, and national involvement. These dues are essential to providing members of Alpha Chi Omega - on a local and national level - with the support our sisterhood needs to thrive. These costs are explained more in depth during the formal recruitment process.
Are there requirements for living in the house?
One aspect of sorority life is the opportunity to live in a home that your sisters have shared as a family for decades. Women going through recruitment are encouraged to embrace this opportunity and the privilege of living in such an exceptionally welcoming home for two years minimum.
What does Alpha Chi Omega think and say about hazing?
Alpha Chi Omega has a strict zero tolerance policy against any act, verbal expression, or engagement that could even slightly resemble hazing. Alpha Chi Omega and Western Michigan University Greek Life is highly regulated and extremely professional. We do not encourage unhealthy behaviors and consistently prioritize academics, mental and physical health, family, sisterhood and community involvement.
How will I manage school and sorority life?
Alpha Chi Omega recognizes that the transition from high-school to college life can be turbulent and intimidating. Alpha Chi Omega has a minimum GPA requirement to participate in any social events held by our organization. Therefore, our members prioritize academics. Alpha Chi Omega never wants a sister to choose between sisterhood and academics, we find a way for every sister to balance both - because a sister of Alpha Chi Omega will never succeed nor fail on her own, she always has support.
I just HAVE to be a sister of Alpha Chi Omega! How do I join?
Our favorite part of the year is when we gain new sisters! Check out our Recruitment Page for updates on recruitment events and requirements!
I have unanswered questions regarding recruitment or aspects of Alpha Chi Omega. Who can I talk to?
We would be happy to answer your questions! Any remaining questions regarding any aspects of the Gamma Xi chapter of Alpha Chi Omega (including academics, sponsorship/funding, philanthropic donations, and recruitment) can be sent to our chapter e-mail at [email protected].
